(September 3rd, open to everyone.) Monet finished hanging the sign with a few pushpins now finding themselves stuck in the pegboard instead of held in her mouth while she placed the damn poster. She grinned at her handy work. A plea to one of the professors had gotten this girl in charge of a fun little start of the year dance for everyone. Obviously the much younger students, the four and five year olds would not be allowed to attend but everyone else was welcome. She stared at the poster while a few students walked by. Charlie in particular, who was scuffling off with a copy of Lady and the Tramp 2 tucked under one arm, stopped briefly to peer at the poster. It read: Hey Students of Academy D! The Academy will be having its first annual ball to celebrate the opening of the semester! All students can and will be encouraged to attend! Date: September 8th Time: 8PM until 12AM Dress: Formal Here's hoping you show up to give this school year a magical beginning! "A magical beginning?" Monet whipped her head around to Charlie who was snickering. She snarled. "Piss off loser." Charlie walked off and Monet smiled up at her poster again. Disney had put her in charge of making this ball perfect and that she was going to do!

Morgan entered the academy’s library and almost instantly felt tension she hadn’t even known about drain itself from her body. She couldn’t explain why – maybe it was just being surrounded by books – but something about libraries seemed to have a soothing effect on her. It had always been this way, ever since she’d had her first visit in first grade – she was probably one of the only teenagers in her neighborhood that spent a good chunk of their weekends there.
Out of the corner of her eye, Morgan spotted Monet hanging up what looked like a poster on the bulletin board. Curious, she approached.
“Hey. What’ve you got there?”
She looked closer and found it to be an advertisement for a school dance – or “ball”, as they apparently insisted on calling it.
“Oh.”
Eye rolling aside, Morgan wasn’t entirely sure what to do with this situation. In her eighteen years, the teenager had never once attended a school function like that – she had hated her middle and high schools, so why would she want to spend more time there than was necessary, especially on a Friday night? The closest she’d ever gotten were the insipid holiday parties her ‘mother’ insisted on throwing and forcing her to attend, though she was usually able to escape to her room after an hour or so.
Besides, she couldn’t dance. That was kind of a big problem.
“Are you going?”
A stupid question, considering Monet was putting posters up for the damn thing, but Morgan wanted to make sure before she gave her own possible attendance any greater thought. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if she had a friend with her.

Kuziko had absolutely nothing left to do around the campus. Over the course of the three days he had been at the school, he had explored the premises twice, played soccer, attempted riding a horse, went swimming in the big outdoor pool, snuck into the girl’s dorm (which actually had turned out to be rather boring), and he had been to the playground at least a bajillion times! The fact that made it worse was that, so far, no other kids his own age had arrived at the grand school! So it was, with a certain hesitation in his step, that the blue-eyed boy had begun to wander to the library.
Ever since receiving the letter, Kuzi had been awful curious of one thing, his father. No, not his adopted father, but the lion one who he just couldn’t seem to figure out. No matter how many times he watched both Lion King and Lion King II, the orphaned boy couldn’t ever find a lion by the name of, “Malka.” The only lions there were Mufasa, Scar (who was awfully scary, in Kuzi’s opinion), Simba, Kovu, and Nuka! So where in the world did this Malka come from! No matter how hard he had tried, Kuziko couldn’t figure out how to use the ‘internet’ on his phone, so he had resorted to the library, desperate to find information.
But it wasn’t simply the lack of information on his father that confused the boy, it was the fact that Simba and Nala had seemed to love eachother so much in the movie. Kuziko couldn’t possibly imagine why they would ever split. While the young boy didn’t know much about love, he had always known that true love would always find a way. Or, at least, that was what Disney movies had always shown him!
Pushing down his thoughts, Kuzi allowed his blue orbs to wander the halls, eventually catching sight of a flyer, clinging to a wall, which hadn’t been there a few hours earlier. Slowly reading it, a small smile came to the boy’s face as he carried on his merry way to the library. Despite his young age, Kuziko did love to dance, despite how silly he may be, so it was when the little lover-boy skipped into the library to find the pretty girl (What was her name, Monet?) standing in the book-filled room next to one of the magnificent flyers that his heart skipped a beat.
Prancing up to Monet, he gently tapped her shoulder, blue eyes round as he stared up at her. “Will you go the dance with me?” Kuzi asked, sweet young voice hopeful as he pointed to the flyer quickly.

Monet turned and gave a nod towards Morgan. "Of course I'm going," she said with a proud smile, "I'm planning the whole thing! You wanna help? I could use a..." She trailed off to turn to see who had the nerve to tap her while she was in the middle of talking.
Her eyes met a young boy, way younger than her, with inquisitive large eyes. She sensed something familiar about him, something instinctual. She wondered about if briefly before the youth asked her his question. She laughed, not at him. Surprisingly she wasn't so cruel when it came to children.
"Well aren't you adorable?" She cooed, "You want to escort me to the ball? I don't know, you might be a tad out of my league!" She winked at Morgan, chuckling softly.

Crap.
Morgan had to fight to keep the frown off her face – now she would have to come up with a viable excuse to not go to this ball, should she decide that it wasn’t worth it. She was mentally running through her options when she heard Monet’s offer to have her help with the planning. Morgan blinked in surprise. Her experience with party planning was nonexistent. As a matter of fact, she did her best to stay away from stuff like that. Still, she and Monet were (somewhat) friends, and she supposed this would qualify as the kind of favor friends did for each other.
Besides, then she’d get to ask for something in return.
“Sure.” Morgan tried to sound enthusiastic. “What do you have to do?”
Before she could get her answer, in wandered Kuziko. Morgan’s mouth thinned. In general, she could care less about children so long as they were quiet and stayed away from her. This boy was doing neither.
She was further confused when Monet started (seemingly) being nice to Kuzi – what happened to the girl who had laughed at Dexter’s pain? – until she caught the wink sent her way. Morgan grinned and leaned against the wall, dark eyes intent on Kuzi and his reaction to whatever it was Monet was about to do to him.
