(September 3rd, late when it's dark outside. Around 8pm possibly. OPEN TO ALL!)
Alexis had gotten bored, the early morning wake up had pissed her off and made her frozen. And showed her how much different her twin brother was from her. So she had decided to climb a decent tree and just hide there for a while, Alexander hadn't noticed or made an appearance yet which was almost fine. But Alexis thought her twin would have noticed her absence at dinner that evening, apparently not.
"Oh well. At least there is no one else out here." Alexis commented, moving her red hair out of the way to see the ground below her tree. Her eyes went wide for a moment and then a frown formed on her now annoyed face, there was in fact other people outdoors at this time of night. Alexis moved herself further into the tree to try and hide herself, but anyone who looked at the tree would have immediately noticed her red hair and dark eyes staring at them.
Alexis almost wondered if she had been wanting to be found and was now getting what she wanted, "at least it wasn't Xan" Alexis murmured to herself as she watched the people below the tree, if Xan had been wandering around out here she would know. He would have made his presence known to her, and you know, it's kind of hard to miss his red hair.
So Alexis stayed curled in her spot up in the tree and waited to find out if anyone had actually seen her up here, and as it suddenly occurred to her, if they were going to tell her off for being up a tree.

Well, it had been two days since she'd arrived here, one-and-a-half since she'd got herself signed in, and Blackpaw privately counted that as something of an achievement. She still wasn't altogether sure about this whole school thing, if she was totally honest, but maybe it looked as though it might be for the better. Better than living on the streets of NYC scrounging and stealing a living, at any rate. Assuming she could get used to so many stupid rules, sleeping indoors, and early-morning fire alarms, that was; none of which the girl was finding it easy to adjust to after the freedom of street life.
She'd wandered back outside. The night air was soothing to her - it always had been, back in New York City, and was even moreso here - and Blackpaw had trailed somewhat aimlessly around the grounds for a while. She didn't need to, knowing as she did where everything was by now, from having made sure to learn her way around the castle grounds the previous day, but it kept her moving, at least. Now, however, the black-and-white haired girl did come to a stop. Leaning back against a tree - the same one Alexis was crouched in, although Blackpaw couldn't know that - she ran a hand around her collar once, then cinched her tie a little tighter, making sure it sat as perfectly straight as always. Making an impression - that was what Blackpaw's choice of clothing was all about.
A slight rustling above her caused the girl to glance upwards, the motion casing her tight collar to constrict her throat uncomfortably, although Blackpaw refused to give any outward sign that she even felt the discomfort. Was that another student in the tree above her? She turned to get a better look, turquoise orbs picking out long red hair and, after a moment, an accompanying pair of eyes. "If you're trying to hide, you're not doing a very good job of it," she sneered.

Alexis watched carefully as Blackpaw approached, she'd seen the girl before, she was sure of it. So Alexis simply watched like an inquisitive creature as she sat below the tree, then of course she moved and gave the game away. She cringed and looked down to Blackpaw, when she made a comment Alexis sighed. "I'm not trying to hide. I actually like it up here." Alexis said in response quite calmly as she rested in the tree, she brushed her red hair back with her hand and simply sat there.
Her eyes gazed down to the black and white haired girl sitting at the base of the tree, "Why aren't you inside with the others?" Alexis asked because she was genuinely curious, she was very much like a wild creature. Also she wanted to know exactly what rules she was breaking for being out here and up a tree.

Well, Blackpaw supposed she didn't really have an answer to that. If the red-haired girl liked being up a tree, then it wasn't exactly any of her business, even if it seemed like a strange way of passing time to her. Then again, wandering the grounds alone after dark could be considered strange, too, so the street-raised girl didn't seen any point in questioning Akexis on her own choice of pastime.
"I like being outside at night. I suppose you could say I find it soothing. And I like my privacy," of course, Blackpaw was mentally scrutinising the other girl as she spoke, piecing together what she saw to create the clearest picture of just what it would take to get to the redhead, what attitude on her part would give her the surest means of wrapping the girl around her finger without Alexis suspecting anything. The girl seemed like the type made to be a pawn in someone else's game, and Blackpaw intended to take full advantage of this fact. None of this showed on her face, however, as Dodger's daughter maintained a neutral expression, neither friendly nor overly unfriendly, until she decided on the best way for her to treat the girl.

Alexis weighed Blackpaw's words carefully and for a moment looked away, almost already bored with the situation. Blackpaw seemed smart and smart people tended to piss her off unintentionally, for the moment Alexis considered herself to have the upper hand since she was up in a tree.
"I just like being outdoors, I feel free out here. Not trapped in some else's idea of freedom." Alexis commented her brown eyes gazing through the leaves of the tree and out to the sky, the stars were more obscured out here than they were back where she grew up.
Alexis looked back down to Blackpaw and repositioned herself in the tree, "So, what's your story then?" Alexis asked curious for once of the girl sitting below her tree, she grabbed some mint leaves out of her pocket and started to eat them. The red-head sat and waited for the girl's response but kept her ears and eyes open for her twin, sill worried that Xan would rush out and scold her for not only being outdoors but being up a tree.

Evidently curious, liked to feel free... Blackpaw was beginning to see a pattern here. Now, how to make best use of it, well, that was somthing she would have little difficulty figuring out.
Of course, there was no need to be rude. Not when, with careful manipulation, the girl's curiosity could be used to Blackpaw's advantage. She might a well humour her. "Which part do you want to know? That I was raised on the streets of New York City? Or that my parents are supposed to have been cartoon dogs?" The question was voiced casually, so as not to sound as rude as it might otherwise have been taken to be. That wasn't Blackpaw's aim, after all - she was more interested in guaging Alexis' reaction than actually deterring the red-haired girl. Not that she didn't already have a vague idea what her companion's response would be, but - well, it was always nice to be proven right. The girl smoothed her unusually-coloured hair while she waited for a response.

Alexis listened carefully as Blackpaw answered, it certainly wasn't what she expected but it wan't far off. She chose to pause for a moment and think about what the girl had said, she looked up past the leave again looking straight out over the horizon. "I don't really like the city but I imagine that you would be quite smart after being raised within it's walls." Alexis looked back down and almost laughed when the girl said her parents were dogs,
"That's better than mine! Mine are both foxes, me AND Xan are supposed to be the children of cartoon foxes. I can't say I don't disagree with either, just from watching you up here I know that it is reasonably possible your parents were different. The foxes thing might explain my needing for nature, but the freedom thing and the hating the city thing I don't think are from my parents." Alexis rambled for a moment before shifting to a different branch in the tree, part of her wanted to jump down and sit slightly closer to Blackpaw to get a better look at the girl but she knew being up in the tree was probably safer.
"Still, being the daughter of a cartoon fox has got to be better than actually being the daughter of my 'parents' that I grew up with" Alexis added glancing down at Blackpaw again, and after that a question came to her mind. "Hey, just a question. Why is your name Blackpaw? It's not an odd name from my point of view but why Blackpaw?"

Before Blackpaw could answer, a swift, other canine spawn moved her way across the grass, a lollipop between her teeth and a whole stash on candy in her purse. The girl'd taken a trip into town and with what little pocket money she had, bought a whole bunch of candy from party city. Each piece was only 10 cents, how could she resist? So now with her stash in tow, she had moved back to campus. Deciding not to go straight back to her room, she strolled past the tree. At first she noticed Blackpaw, then she noticed the fox sitting in the tree.
Blinking she approached the girls, rolling the sour apple flavoured lollipop to the other side of her mouth. She looked up. "Hey, what're you doing in the tree?" She opened her purse. "Hey, you guys want some candy?" Hey, there was no reason she couldn't be friendly, despite sharing her mother's attitude.

Blackpaw gave a short eyebrow-raise in response to the other girl's longer-than-necessary explanation, intended to neither encourage or discourage her from continuing. Let Alexis talk if she wanted to; the more she spoke, the more it gave Blackpaw to work with in the future. It was only when the redhead adressed a question to her that the manipulative girl finally responded. It wasn't like her name's origins were any great secret.
"It's a nickname I chose for myself," she replied., tucking a strand of white hair behind her ear with her left hand, then holding out her other hand, marred as it was with her dark birthmark. "It's distinctive, and would be a paw if I was a dog..." she shrugged, unconcerned. "It might not be completely imaginative, but it works for me. Better than my real name."
It was only once she'd finished talking that Blackpaw turned her attention to the blonde who'd shown up, not at all pleased at being interrupted. Something about the newcomer set her on edge, although right now, she couldn't say what. Call it canine instinct, maybe. She rolled her shoulders in a shrug as her only answer to Charlie, not really caring how the action was interpretted.
